Last night, we shared what homeschooling our families has done to teachourselves. As it turns out, homeschooling parents seem to be learning just as much as the children!
We have learned...
*How to say no
*To do what is really best for our family
*Don't go overboard with curriculum, unless you're certain it will be used
*The importance of lifelong, enthusiastic learning
*Everything is absorbed by the child
*Awareness of our own boundries: anger management, organizational skills, strengths and weaknesses
*To stay openminded
*To take care of yourself
*Patience, negotiation, compromise, communication skills, self motivation, social skills
*Marriages are strong
*Children are always learning, and at their own pace
*It is important for children to be familiar with how to take a standardized test
*There is freedom in knowing your options
*The time with our young children is precious
*To recognize the reality of our perceptions
*That it is easy to expect too much
*How to trust our kids
